INFO

#UNMESEDIPLASTICA is an installation displayed on the façade of a residential building in central Milan on the occasion of World Environment Day 2019.

The work is composed of more than 740 plastic bottles collected within the same building over the course of one month. The public display of this investigation into the amount of waste produced within a defined space—using a month of lockdown as a temporal parameter—serves as a starting point for reflecting on our environmental impact. Individual consumption, multiplied on a broader scale—here represented by the building in which we live—becomes a tangible visual metaphor for the environmental damage we generate when scaled globally.

The message of the installation is conveyed on multiple levels: visually, through its interaction with the architectural structure; verbally, through the title/claim that clearly communicates the initial inquiry; and digitally, via a dedicated QR code providing further information on how to reduce personal plastic waste production.
