Ouroborobeats is a participatory installation created in collaboration with Cino Zucchi for the 2022 edition of the exhibition 1+1+1 at Assab One.

The work invites the public to actively engage with sound: an open portico, whose suspended form on inclined rods takes on a lemniscate shape—an infinite figure, an Ouroboros devouring itself in an eternal cycle—becomes a stage where everyone is invited to generate sound using a wide variety of percussion instruments placed on an irregular arrangement of circular platforms. The installation comes to life through ephemeral experiments exploring the sense of synergistic rhythm and the dialogue it creates.

The work is completed by a series of old LP covers topped with a lit candle, forming an unlikely gallery of musical Lares and Penates, evoking music’s ability to be forgotten, replicated, interpreted, and transmitted over time and across space, from one generation to the next.
