Dumpster Island is an immersive installation designed for the 360° IDA Degree Show (UAL).
The project aims to raise awareness of the devastating impact of human debris on marine life, focusing in particular on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
A VR headset immerses the viewer in an ocean saturated with waste. This apocalyptic and dystopian vision is experienced while standing on a soft platform covered with crushed cans collected from the sidewalks and streets of London, evoking the sensation of standing on a small fragment of the plastic island floating in the ocean.
By engaging the entire body, the experience conveys its message through intense visual and physical sensations—some participants even reported feeling seasick!
