INFO
AnimAzione is a series of three immersive installations that, through different sensibilities, interpret the geographical, cultural, and spiritual identity of the Apulian territory. The project explores local symbolic forms that have survived the profound technical, economic, and social transformations of the region, from the pagan era to the present day.
As visitors move through the interconnected steel rods, the installations come to life, animating themselves in a spontaneous dance that generates ever-changing sounds and movements. This interaction facilitates a personal experience of these symbols and beliefs without imposing a predefined narrative, giving rise to an intimate and empirical discovery that is never the same twice.
The artifacts act as a bridge between collective culture and individual experience, creating new forms of interpretation and dialogue between generations, between the otherworldly beliefs of ancient local traditions and their contemporary perception. In doing so, they transmit an ancient culture without nostalgia, bearing witness to the place and its cultural and artistic activity.
The performance within the installation took place years after the installations were created, now marked by the passage of time. The movements convey an intuitive dialogue between the body and the works, staging a personal experience and interpretation of ancestral Apulian beliefs about infinity, cosmic balance, nature, and its sacred forces. Through dance, the fabric covering the performer’s body intertwines with the installation, whose oxidized surfaces leave visible traces of invisible connections. Through movement, an empirical exploration of questions surrounding human existence unfolds, drawing on our most basic shared instinct: the search for meaning.
